OverJam visits Jamaica
It’s been an exciting year for Overjam. Not only have we completed our historic 10th edition, but immediately after, the OverJam core team members visited Jamaica. It has long been our mission to experience the island where our beloved music and culture come from, meet people related to the festival, and make some new, essential connections.
It has been a fantastic experience. We had the chance to participate in the launch of the Intimate Buju Banton and Beres Hammond concert and Reggae Sting, not only meeting Buju himself, but also the Minister for Culture, Hon. Olivia Babsy Grange, who is thrilled to collaborate with us. Also in attendance were artists including Tarrus Riley, DJs like Bambino and media representatives from On Stage TV, Irie FM, Gleaner, and E-Plus TV.
We also had private meetings with other artists, producers and personalities from the reggae world, including King Jammy, Copeland Forbes, Andrew Tosh, Squidly Cole, Yaksta, Sanjay, Italee, Vyzadon and Jerone. We presented our festival to them and left the door wide open for future collaboration. We exchanged experiences and ideas, from which we are sure many new features will emerge for the coming and future editions of OverJam.
Based on all this, we are already working to bring more Jamaican culture, heritage, food, drinks and, of course, dancehall and music to OverJam 2023, and we can’t wait to announce to you how we will do it.
